This piece came about during a paint session I led with Black Girls Who Paint. The theme was “anything but brushes”, meaning brushes weren’t allowed as a tool to create. My tools were: a Gingko leaf, a palette knife, a paint tube, folded paper, and my hands. I began this session with no goal other than to dive deep into my inner child. I never thought the end result would bring such a smile to my face and really make me feel grounded. I have 2 recommendations for everyone during this quarantine: check in with your inner child and do something that grounds you.
