Egypt is said to be birthplace of cameo jewelry, yet, I have never seen a person of color depicted in the artistic silhouette. After over a year of being incomplete, the story of this piece became clear. Completing this work brought the story of cameo jewelry full circle for me and re-connected me to a few ancestors.
